Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Stenoob LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use Stenoob Lab at lab.stenoob.com. We designed the app to run entirely in your browser and to keep your content on your device.

Key point: The editor text, paper tape, dictionaries, and settings are stored locally in your browser (Local Storage / IndexedDB). We do not receive or transmit that content to our servers.

1) Information we process locally (not sent to us)

Editor content, paper tape, tokens, and cursor state
Dictionary files you load (JSON / RTF) and dictionary selection
UI preferences (e.g., fonts, “paper-only” mode)
Connection status (connect/disconnect) needed to communicate with your Stenoob keyboard

This information stays on your device unless you choose to export/download it. You can clear it from the app’s menu (“Clear all”) or via your browser’s site data settings.

2) Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics (“GA”) to understand site usage (e.g., page views, device/browser types, approximate geography). GA uses cookies and similar technologies to generate aggregate statistics for us. We do not use GA to record your editor content, paper tape, or dictionaries.

IP anonymization is enabled where available by Google.
We do not use GA for advertising or remarketing.
Data is used in aggregate to improve stability and UX.

Opt-out options

Use a browser with “Do Not Track” or tracking protection.
Block analytics cookies in your browser settings.
Install Google’s opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

3) Cookies

We do not set our own first-party cookies for app features. Google Analytics may set cookies to measure usage. You can manage or clear cookies via your browser settings.

4) Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Analytics data is processed by Google as our service provider. See Google’s policies for details on their processing.

5) Children’s privacy

The Services are not intended to be used by children, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information about children. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has provided us with their personal information, you may contact us using the contact details set out below to request that it be deleted.

6) Security

We aim to follow security best practices for a static, client-side app. Because the app stores your content in your browser, protect your device and consider clearing site data if using a shared computer.

7) International users & legal basis

Our analytics processing is based on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving usage of the site. Laws in your location may provide additional rights; you can exercise those by using the opt-out options above.

8) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
